Ballet

According to many teachers and professionals, ballet is the foundation of all dance styles. As it has been changing and developing for over 400 years, what we have today is a very well grounded, precise way of developing human movement. And technical stuff aside, it is really rather beautiful.

ADC’s RAD accredited teachers provide classes for several levels:

  • Beginners (no experience required)

  • Silver Swans® (no experience required, further details below)

  • Improvers Ballet

  • Intermediate Ballet

  • Advanced Ballet

Jazz

Jazz is a non-syllabus, varied dance style, consisting of unique moves depending on a specific style or era of jazz. It uses bold and dramatic body movements including body isolations, leaps, turns, contractions, kicks and runs and, whilst very energetic and upbeat, it also increases flexibility with many stretching exercises incorporated into each class. It is a fun but technical dance style based a lot on the teachers’ personal jazz styles and training.

The atmosphere is less formal than ballet and gives the adults a chance to learn moves from commercial music clips, musical theatres and some UK and American street styles.

TAP

Tap is an exciting form of dance using a variety of music including ragtime, jazz, swing, musical theatre and mainstream tracks. No one really knows when the phrase "tap dance" was first used, perhaps as early as the 1900s, but apart from being an essential skill for the professional dancer, tap is one of the most enjoyable and fun forms of dance.

Our tap classes are based on the syllabus of the British Association of Teachers of Dancing. We offer the chance for adults to learn different styles of tap which help develop a strong sense of timing and rhythm while working on stamina and co-ordination.
