About Lyn
Lyn Fitzsimons
Royal Ballet School TTC Dip, ARAD RTS, AISTD
Lyn started her training at the Glasgow Ballet School in Scotland. At 11 years old she was awarded a coveted place at The Dance School of Scotland where she gained her RAD Advanced Ballet, ISTD National, Modern and Tap qualifications and was selected to perform with Scottish Ballet, Scottish Opera and for HRH Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana.
At 16, Lyn was accepted into the world-renowned Royal Ballet School in London where she trained for three years, graduating with the RBS Teachers Training Course Diploma, Royal Academy of Dance Associate and Registered Teacher Status, Associate Member of The National & Cecchetti Branch ISTD and a first place scholarship for the Cecchetti Summer School.
Graduation day: Lyn was awarded her diploma by Dame Ninette de Valois.
Wishing to travel and expand on her performing arts portfolio, Lyn moved to Paris to be a Bluebell at the Lido De Paris where she stayed for eight years. During her time there, she performed and toured internationally with contracts in cabaret, film, television, musical theatre, modelling and a classical aerial ballet commission spanning five years with America's Flying By Foy. A special moment for Lyn in Paris was welcoming her beautiful daughter Nina into the world.
In 2001, Lyn returned with her family to Scotland where she established herself as a director and lecturer in the creative arts. Her company The Ballet Schools enjoyed many successes with her teachers, students and adult dancers, including a 100 per cent pass rate in both RAD, ISTD and BATD dance societies. Some of her past students have progressed to Scottish Ballet, The Dance School of Scotland, The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Laine Theatre Arts, London.
Calming those pre-show nerves.
In 2010 Lyn was appointed as Mentor for the Royal Academy of Dance Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies and she has tutored, choreographed and adjudicated in many vocational and independent schools throughout the UK, including The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, The Royal Ballet School White Lodge, Elmhurst Ballet School, Legat School and London Studio Centre.
Having relocated in 2014 to Australia, Lyn feels privileged to be working with some of the most gifted dancers in Queensland. She has recently been elected as a member of the Australian Dance Adjudicators, which will allow her to travel and see further talent in the performing arts sector. Juggling her busy teaching schedule between Brisbane and her base, the Sunshine Coast, she is continually dedicated to spreading her love of dance to children and adult dancers alike.
